According to Valve’s official statistics, the peak concurrent users on Steam reached an astounding 40, 222, 964 on Sunday, February 2. The surge in player numbers can largely be attributed to the launch of Capcom’s latest title, Monster Hunter Wilds, which has garnered massive attention among gamers.

Monster Hunter Wilds: Fueling the Surge

Since its release on February 28, Monster Hunter Wilds has recorded an outstanding 1.3 million concurrent players over the weekend, setting new records for the platform. This figure surpasses the records set by other popular titles including DOTA 2, Cyberpunk 2077, Elden Ring, Hogwarts Legacy, Baldur’s Gate 3, and even leading free-to-play games such as Marvel Rivals and Apex Legends.

SteamDB Insights: A Broader Perspective

According to SteamDB’s data, Monster Hunter Wilds ranks fifth in concurrent player records on Steam, trailing behind only major titles like PUBG (3.7 million), Black Myth: Wukong (2.4 million), Palworld (2.1 million), and Counter-Strike 2 (1.7 million).The influx of players following significant game releases consistently enhances Steam’s visibility and draws new gamers to its diverse library. Notably, the release of Path of Exile 2 in early access last December was pivotal in achieving the 39 million concurrent user milestone.
