Starsand Island Ruins Key Locations: Unlocking the Moonlit Forest Bronze Gate

Starsand Island may present itself as an adorable farming-themed social simulation game, but there exists a more mysterious aspect hidden beneath its charming exterior – quite literally. Drawing inspiration from the mines found in *Stardew Valley*, this game introduces a unique second map: the Moonlit Forest, a subterranean realm that lies beneath the serene surface of the island.

Exploring the Moonlit Forest

Diving into the Moonlit Forest is an adventure that unfolds gradually, spanning several in-game days, even with concentrated effort. To navigate this mystical terrain effectively, players must advance in both the Explorer and Crafter roles. This advancement equips you with essential tools, enabling you to venture further north across the Moonlit Forest map. Along the way, you’ll encounter various challenges, including puzzles, mini-boss battles, and necessary repairs to access new areas and continue your exploration.

Unlocking the Bronze Gate

A notable challenge you will face is the Bronze Gate, a tangible barrier situated between Mural Valley and Harvest Yard within the Moonlit Forest. Gaining access to this gate requires two keys, which are crucial for progressing in the game. Here’s a comprehensive guide on where to locate both Ruins Keys essential to opening the Bronze Gate in Starsand Island.

Locating the Ruins Keys

The Ruins Keys are designated as (L) and (R) for left and right, respectively, and acquiring them involves different quests.

The first key is held by Zephyria, your Exploration mentor (and a possible romantic interest). He will bestow this key upon you once you accept the Become an Intermediate Explorer quest, an integral step in your exploration journey.

NOTE: While Zephyria is typically associated with Ruins Key (L), the first key you will receive is always the left-half. If you happen to find the chest containing the other key before initiating the quest, Zephyria will instead grant you Ruins Key (R).Rest assured, you won’t unintentionally become soft-locked with two left keys if your actions precede the quest activation!

The second key is cleverly hidden within the Moonlit Forest, located in a treasure chest nestled between Azure Bay and Mural Valley, not far from the Bronze Gate itself.

To find it, head north from the Mural Valley camp. To your right, you’ll spot a wooden platform elevator. This elevator serves a dual purpose: it provides a means to access higher forest levels should you tumble into the river valley below – and fear not, as Starsand Island features no fall damage.

Look for the chest containing the key, along with some other resources, just past the base of the elevator on the western side of the river, near a cluster of glowing blue flowers and nearby coal mining nodes.

Final Preparations

Once both keys are in your possession, ascend back to the higher level using the elevator and unlock the Bronze Gate, which lies opposite a bubble bridge spanning the waterfall ravine slightly north of where you just emerged. However, be prepared: this action plunges you directly into a boss fight! It is highly recommended that you craft a bow and explosive arrows to adequately equip yourself for this challenge.
