Starfield Shattered Space Expansion Launches on Xbox Series X|S and PC
Bethesda has launched the first expansion for its recent sci-fi RPG, Starfield. Titled Shattered Space, this update transports players to a previously unreachable planet for an exciting new questline involving House Va’ruun. The major expansion promises a meticulously crafted experience that immerses players in a mystery surrounding a failed experimental endeavor. It is now available for standalone purchase as well as through the game’s special editions.
Players are advised to reach at least level 35 before diving into the new content, though it’s not mandatory. Bethesda notes that the only prerequisite is to complete the “One Small Step”introductory mission from the base campaign. Once that is done, players will receive a distress call from a star station called The Oracle. To trigger this event, simply grav-jump to a system devoid of active missions or encounters.
For those keen on enjoying the new storyline without spoilers, it’s advisable to skip the next paragraph.
The expansion’s story takes players to the hidden homeworld of House Va’Ruun, known as Va’ruun’kai. The adventure kicks off in the capital city, Dazra, where a covert Grav-Drive experiment has caused a catastrophic rift in spacetime. This incident resulted in a significant portion of the city, along with its residents and leaders, going missing, creating turmoil for those left behind. The player and their crew arrive at this chaotic location, leading to numerous role-playing opportunities.
Bethesda emphasizes that the expansion is set entirely within the planet, allowing for a more comprehensive and intricately designed experience, akin to the studio’s earlier games.
The Starfield: Shattered Space expansion is available now on PC (through the Microsoft Store and Steam) and Xbox Series X|S platforms, priced at $29.99. Players who own the Premium and Constellation editions of Starfield can access the expansion at no additional cost. However, it’s important to note that Game Pass subscribers must purchase either the expansion or the Digital Premium Upgrade to gain access.
