Starfield May Soon Introduce a Highly Requested Feature

Exciting Developments for Starfield: Interplanetary Travel on the Horizon

Recent discoveries suggest that Starfield may soon include a highly anticipated feature, much to the delight of its player community.

According to discussions on the game’s subreddit, new insights from the latest updates indicate that an interplanetary travel mechanic could be on the way. This would grant players the ability to journey between various planets within the same star system—a feature long sought after since the game’s initial release. However, it appears that seamless transitions from space to planetary surfaces will not be part of these updates, meaning that fans shouldn’t expect the game to rival the likes of Elite Dangerous or No Man’s Sky in this regard anytime soon.

Potential for New Features and Enhancements

While there’s no guarantee that interplanetary travel will make it into the final game, its probable inclusion corresponds with ongoing rumors about upcoming enhancements in Starfield. Reports have surfaced about new quality-of-life improvements and a forthcoming second expansion, which is set to coincide with the game’s launch on PlayStation 5 in Spring 2026. Initially slated for release this year, the PS5 version was postponed due to lower-than-expected sales of the first expansion, Shattered Space.

As a player who experienced Starfield at its launch in 2023, my enthusiasm for the game waned fairly quickly. My return prior to the release of the Shattered Space expansion revealed persistent issues that the update failed to resolve. Nevertheless, there’s hope that the rumored quality-of-life adjustments, along with the new expansion, might revitalize this game, allowing it to reach the full potential that its robust foundation promises.
