StarCraft: Remastered and StarCraft II Games Launching on PC Game Pass This November

The 2024 Xbox Tokyo Game Show Broadcast recently started, and Microsoft Gaming’s CEO, Phil Spencer, made an appearance wearing a StarCraft shirt. While there was no announcement for a sequel today, he did share some exciting news regarding the iconic real-time strategy franchise. StarCraft: Remastered and StarCraft II: Campaign Collection are set to arrive for Windows gamers through PC Game Pass and Game Pass Ultimate.

Although the multiplayer segments have been free-to-play for several years, the campaign modes have previously been paid purchases. Soon, members of Game Pass on PC will have the opportunity to dive into the engaging campaign storylines featuring the human Terrans, bug-like Zerg, and the advanced Protoss.

Launched in 2017, StarCraft: Remastered revitalizes the 1998 classic StarCraft along with its Brood War expansion, offering enhanced graphics. This remaster features complete visual upgrades for all units, buildings, and environments, as well as re-recorded sound effects. Modern conveniences such as cloud saves, improved zoom functionality, and multiple localizations have also been included. The beloved gameplay remains intact, and players can toggle between the classic graphics and the remastered visuals.

On the other hand, the StarCraft II Campaign Collection encompasses the entire trilogy of storylines from this renowned RTS. It features over 70 missions from the Wings of Liberty, Heart of the Swarm, and Legacy of the Void campaigns, along with Nova Covert Ops. Players will also encounter fresh co-op commanders from the campaigns, such as Raynor and Kerrigan.

Blizzard Entertainment commented, “Ever since StarCraft first launched in 1998 and expanded with StarCraft II in 2010, the series has left a lasting impact on the real-time strategy (RTS) genre, esports, and the growth of live streaming – and continues to captivate a vibrant and passionate community that is always eager to welcome new members.”

Both StarCraft: Remastered and StarCraft II: Campaign Collection will be accessible via PC Game Pass and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate memberships starting November 5. It remains unclear whether these titles will be available through the Battle.net client or as native games via the Xbox app.
