Star Wars Outlaws Update Focuses on Enhancing Combat Responsiveness and Engagement
Latest Developments in Star Wars Outlaws
In November, Ubisoft disclosed significant updates for its popular sci-fi adventure, Star Wars Outlaws. Developed by Massive Entertainment, this open-world game had received a warm reception upon its initial release earlier this year. However, Ubisoft has since acknowledged that the game’s financial performance has not met expectations.
Introducing Update 1.4
With the appointment of new creative director Drew Rechner, the development team is preparing to launch their most extensive patch yet, known as update 1.4. Scheduled for release in just a few days, this update promises a range of impactful changes, particularly focusing on enhancing combat mechanics.
Enhanced Combat Mechanics
One of the standout features of the upcoming update includes an enhancement to Kay’s blaster, which will now be equipped with the Power module. This upgrade enables players to dislodge enemies from cover, adding a strategic element to gameplay. Additionally, the Ion module is set to receive buffs, extending the duration of its stun effect and increasing enemy vulnerability to subsequent damage. Ubisoft aims to provide players with greater freedom and enjoyment during combat, as outlined in their latest developer blog.
Innovations in Gameplay
Furthermore, weapons that Kay acquires while exploring the game’s expansive world will now remain functional even during activities like climbing, interacting with enemies, and navigating the environment. This change is anticipated to provide a seamless and immersive experience.
Improved Camera Control
Players will also benefit from enhanced camera mechanics, with the ability to switch shoulders while aiming from cover, thus improving control and aim precision.
Additional Updates and Enhancements
The forthcoming update will introduce several other features, including:
- Weak points on enemies for increased combat variety.
- Increased damage from headshots.
- Enhanced hit reactions from NPCs.
- A comprehensive overhaul of weapon feedback, covering audio, visual effects, and recoil systems to make blasters feel more distinctive and rewarding to master.
Release Information
Star Wars Outlaws update 1.4 is set to launch on November 21 across all current platforms and Steam, which will also see the game’s debut on that date. In addition to the aforementioned changes, players can look forward to improvements in enemy AI, allowing for a variety of tactics—whether opting for stealthy approaches or full-frontal assaults.
