Ubisoft Unveils Major Update and Steam Version for Star Wars Outlaws
Following disappointing sales figures for Massive Entertainment’s Star Wars Outlaws, Ubisoft made headlines earlier this year by announcing a much-anticipated Steam version of the game. Accompanying this launch is a significant update aimed at addressing critiques surrounding combat mechanics, stealth dynamics, and overall controls. Today, players can finally experience these upgrades from a galaxy far, far away.
Key Enhancements in the New Update
The latest update, touted as the most substantial yet by Massive, introduces a range of noteworthy improvements to enhance gameplay:
- Improved Stealth and Combat Options: Players now have increased freedom to choose between stealth tactics or engaging enemies directly, even when navigating syndicate-controlled areas.
- Upgraded Enemy AI: The update enhances enemy detection systems, allowing players to be notified of impending detection and choose whether to adapt their tactics.
- Strategic Weak Points: New weak points on enemies encourage players to adopt strategic approaches, with targeting potentially triggering exciting visual effects or unique enemy takedowns.
- Revamped Weapons System: Kay’s blaster has been re-tuned, and players can carry two-handed weapons in more scenarios, thus revitalizing combat encounters.
- Visual Enhancements: Improvements in character facial animations during dialogues, an option to disable the cinematic lens during gameplay, and better visibility of distant lights have also been integrated.
Addressing Technical Issues on Windows 11
While these enhancements are welcome, Massive has acknowledged ongoing technical challenges, particularly for PC users running Windows 11 24H2. Players have reported an increase in crashes, alongside issues such as stuttering and performance drops.
“We are still working hard to deploy a permanent fix as soon as we possibly can,” stated a representative from Massive.
Bug Reporting and Community Engagement
To keep players informed about ongoing issues, Ubisoft has introduced a dedicated Bug Reporter for Star Wars Outlaws. This tool allows players to report new issues or upvote existing ones, fostering a collaborative environment between the developers and the community.
