Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl features numerous locations where players can engage with points of interest (POIs), each providing opportunities to acquire valuable loot such as artifacts, weapons, and gear blueprints. A particularly intriguing site known as the Death Cave, located in the Cordon region, offers a treasure trove of rewards. However, be prepared for a challenging encounter with a Controller that awaits within its depths. It’s essential to gear up for a fight as you claim your spoils.
Locating the Death Cave in Stalker 2

The Death Cave POI can be found just east of Rookie Village in the Cordon area. You’ll spot the entrance nestled at the hill’s base. Inside, the dimly lit cavern is fraught with gravitational anomalies that may cause damage or disorientation. Therefore, ensure you have plenty of medkits on hand and equip a bolt to navigate the cave safely.
Claiming Loot Inside the Death Cave

As previously mentioned, the cave’s darkness can make finding the hidden pathway to the loot quite challenging. For navigation, head towards the left side of the cavern near the pond, where you’ll find a lit section. Search for a crack in the rear wall that leads to the concealed area containing valuable items, which is only visible from this left-side approach.
Once you discover the opening, enter it to find a skeleton perched on a rock, with an artifact floating above it. The following rewards await discovery in the Death Cave:
- A Thermal-Anomaly based artifact
- AS Lavina Assault Rifle
- Protective Coating Blueprint for SEVA suit
- Assorted consumables, including ammunition, medkits, drinks, and food
Defeating the Controller Mutant

After looting the area, be alert for the spawn of a Controller mutant, which will obstruct your exit from the Death Cave. This formidable foe emits PSI radiation, causing disorientation and damage over time.
Your first action should be to consume a PSI-Block to mitigate the effects of its attacks. Then, pursue the Controller within the cave. Utilizing a shotgun for a quick takedown is recommended, as getting close can be advantageous. Once you have successfully defeated the mutant, you can securely exit the cave.
