The Path Leading Jun Hee to the Island

Heartbreak and Financial Missteps

Kim Jun Hee’s entry into the high-stakes arena of Squid Game is steeped in sorrow. Orphaned as a child, she learned to navigate life alone. Later, she became intertwined with Lee Myung-gi, a YouTube streamer who morphed into a cryptocurrency influencer. Driven by a desire for financial independence, Jun Hee invested in a cryptocurrency named Dalmatian, only to find it was a scam, leading her to significant financial ruin.

Her introduction in the series occurs during a visit to the gynecologist, where a call to Myung-gi goes unanswered. It is also revealed that she had received an invitation to join Squid Game from the same recruiter featured in Season 1. Faced with the challenges of her pregnancy and Myung-gi’s abrupt absence, coupled with her urgent need for financial stability, Jun Hee makes the fateful decision to participate in the deadly games.

An Emotional Reunion with Her Ex

After enduring the brutal “Red Light, Green Light”game, Jun Hee encounters her former lover, Lee Myung-gi, igniting a torrent of conflicted emotions. Their reunion is fraught with tension, especially considering Myung-gi’s previous disappearance. Struggling to maintain focus under immense emotional strain, Jun Hee is disillusioned to find that Myung-gi remains consumed by his obsession with cryptocurrency. Ultimately, she resolves to sever ties with him to prioritize her survival.

The next challenge, the “Six-legged Pentathlon, ”demands participants to form teams of five. In a desperate race to join a group before the game starts, Jun Hee faces rejection once others learn of her pregnancy. Even though Myung-gi offers her a spot in his team, she declines, choosing instead to seek out Gi-Hun and Dae-Jo. They readily accept her after evicting another member.

Once in the pentathlon, each team member selects one game from five options to proceed to the next round. Faced with the suggestion to play “Gongi, ”which is considered a “girl’s game, ”Jun Hee surprises her teammates by opting for “Ddakji, ”showcasing her resourcefulness. After her team is the last to compete, Jun Hee excels in “Ddakji, ”successfully winning her round with impressive skill.

Jun Hee’s Undying Concern for Lee Myung-gi

Following the third game, players are given the option to vote on whether to continue or quit. Jun Hee, yearning for a way out, chooses to hit the “X”button. In a chaotic stalemate, a conflict arises between those who wish to end the games and those seeking to continue. Jun Hee soon hears about Gi-Hun’s escape strategy and, realizing the peril her ex is in, she discreetly warns Myung-gi of impending danger, potentially saving him from a tragic fate at the hands of the opposing faction.

As tensions escalate and a fight breaks out, Myung-gi retaliates in self-defense, resulting in a brutal confrontation and the memorable death of Thanos. Despite the carnage, the tide seems to shift in favor of those wanting to quit, prompting the opposing faction to devise a plan for violent retribution.
