Introducing Splitgate 2: A Free-to-Play Arena Shooter with a Twist
The gaming world is buzzing with excitement following the launch of Splitgate 2, the newest installment in the sci-fi arena shooter franchise developed by 1047 Games. Not only has this highly anticipated title made its way to PC and consoles, but it also arrives as a free-to-play experience. In a remarkable debut during the Summer Game Fest showcase, the studio head unveiled a brand-new battle royale mode alongside the game’s full release.
New Battle Royale Mode: A Game-Changer for Splitgate
Though the Splitgate franchise has primarily focused on frantic arena battles, the developers have stealthily crafted a battle royale mode that now includes thrilling 60-player showdowns. Participants can join forces in teams of four, totaling 15 teams vying to emerge as the last one standing. Enormous interconnected maps, referred to as colossal arenas, feature five unique biomes, each accessible through expansive World Portals.
Explore Diverse Environments and Loot Opportunities
As described by developers, players can strategically choose their drop locations, embarking from diverse landscapes like the parched expanses of Drought’s desert or the icy terrains of Glacier. Once players progress through the match, they may unlock access to a special central zone, the Sanctum, which houses treasure-laden ruins and epic loot for those still in the fight.
The essence of battle royale gameplay is captured through engaging loot mechanics, rapid-fire action, and dynamic in-game events that enhance overall excitement.
Additional Features and Future Enhancements
Along with the new battle royale mode, Splitgate 2 arrives with four new maps for arena mode, introduces a simplified map-creating template, and showcases an innovative weapon: the Gravitas Shotgun. Furthermore, 1047 Games has committed to an extensive roadmap, promising the introduction of a ranked mode, more maps, reskins, and a continual stream of content updates.
Available Platforms
Players can now enjoy Splitgate 2 on multiple platforms, including PC via Steam and Epic Games Store, as well as on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, and PlayStation 4.
