Exciting Announcements from The Game Awards
In a night filled with thrilling reveals and surprises, The Game Awards showcased a variety of incredible moments. Among them was renowned game designer Josef Fares, who took to the stage to unveil his latest project, Split Fiction. Speculation about the game’s title had already been circulating online just days before the event.
A New Co-op Adventure
Developed in collaboration with Electronic Arts and Hazelight Studios, Split Fiction is set to launch on March 6, 2025. Hazelight Studios, known for their award-winning title It Takes Two, which has sold over 20 million copies globally, aims to push the boundaries of co-op gaming further.
Gameplay Dynamics and Storyline
Players will assume the roles of Mio and Zoe, embarking on a quest to reclaim their creative legacies while navigating their developing friendship. The gameplay promises an inventive blend of sci-fi and fantasy elements, inviting players to engage in a wide range of entertaining mechanics. Notable activities include challenging a monkey to a dance battle, bouncing as a pig on a trampoline, and performing tricks on a hoverboard. This unique fusion of silliness and ambition is designed to appeal to players of all ages.
Powerful Words from Josef Fares
Josef Fares, the founder of Hazelight Studios, expressed his excitement for Split Fiction during the announcement:
“At Hazelight, we’ve been building co-op games for 10 years, and with every game we push beyond what players expect for action-adventure co-op games. I’m so proud of what we have built with Split Fiction. Let me tell you guys, it’s going to blow your mind. Because Mio and Zoe jump back and forth between sci-fi and fantasy worlds, we’ve been able to do some really wild things with gameplay and storytelling. This is definitely our most epic co-op adventure yet.”
Looking Forward to Release
Fares’ confidence in Split Fiction reflects the intention to redefine cooperative gameplay experiences. Jeff Gamon, the General Manager of EA Partners, echoed this sentiment:
“Friendships and great memories are made through playing amazing co-op games together – and no one does it better than Hazelight. We’re excited to continue our long-term partnership with Josef and his talented team to bring another innovative, collaborative adventure to life; one that continues to push the boundaries and redefine what players can experience together on and off the screen.”
Release Details
Split Fiction will be available for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam, Epic Games Store, and the EA app for a price of $49.99.
