Footage shared by X user @FlyerXT captures a critical moment during the flight, showing the rocket transitioning into an explosion. After SpaceX managed to catch the Super Heavy booster around seven minutes post-launch, the second stage continued powered by Raptor engines but experienced a communication dropout near the eight-and-a-half-minute mark, which was confirmed by the team during their live stream.

The dramatic visuals from @FlyerXT depict the Starship engulfed in flames before ultimately exploding in a spectacular fireball, a phenomenon typically associated with its methane propellant.

A subsequent video from the same user showcases the results of the explosion, revealing multiple fragments of Starship debris traversing through the atmosphere towards an uncertain destination. The trajectory of rocket flights—especially those in development, like the Starship—is meticulously planned to minimize risk to individuals and properties below.

Given that this flight originated from U.S. territory, both SpaceX and the United States government bear the responsibility for addressing any claims that might arise from the incident. Furthermore, SpaceX is obligated to maintain an extensive insurance policy for its operations, which in the past has carried steep costs—such as a policy totaling $198 million specifically for the upper stage’s test hops in 2020.

The debris appears to be moving in a straight formation, with additional perspectives from user @realcamtem highlighting multiple high-speed debris trails.

This anomaly is believed to have also affected local air traffic. According to open-source intelligence shared via X, several flights in the vicinity had their paths altered. An advisory regarding flight activity in the area arrived early, indicating that possibly twenty flights were impacted by the incident.
