“Sounds a little Diddy ish to me”: Unimpressed NBA fans troll Beyonce for Steph Curry reference in ‘Cowboy Carter’ album
Mentioning Steph Curry in a song is a common occurrence in the music industry. Throughout his career, Curry has been referenced in more than 10 songs. However, his recent mention in a song by Beyonce did not receive positive reactions from fans.
One of the songs from Beyonce’s latest album, “Cowboy Carter,”is called ‘SPAGHETTI.’ In this track, the pop star mentions the name of the Warriors star in the lyrics. The song is one of eight tracks on the album.
“They salty, they shootin’, like Curry (One, two, three). One hand on my holster, then pass it to Hova (Woo).”
Beyonce’s trilogy project includes three albums, with “Cowboy Carter”being the second one. The first album of the trilogy, titled “Renaissance,”was released earlier.
When ESPN shared the news that Curry’s name was mentioned in Beyonce’s song, it received backlash from NBA fans who were displeased about it.
A spectator remarked,
“Beyonce and Jay-Z are done.”
One other supporter wrote,
“Sounds a little Diddy ish to me”
Beyonce is not the sole singer to mention Curry in a song. In the past year, American rapper Sexxy Red also referenced Curry in her track “SkeeYee.”
Warriors’ Star Steph Curry Reacts to Teammate Draymond Green’s Ejection Against Magic
Despite their struggles this season, Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors are currently holding onto the 10th spot in the Western Conference, just ahead of the Houston Rockets. However, the Rockets are only one game behind and could potentially overtake the Warriors for a spot in the Play-In Tournament.
Recently, it has been clear that Steph Curry is feeling frustrated while playing on the court. This was exemplified during the Orlando Magic game when Draymond Green was ejected, as Curry displayed an emotional outburst on the court.
Following the game, Curry expressed to the media that the Warriors heavily rely on Green’s presence on the court, especially during times of struggle.
“All I’ll say is we need him. He knows that. We all know that,”Curry said (h/t USA Today). “Whatever it takes to keep him on the floor — him be available — that’s what’s got to happen, especially at this point in the year.”
Not only was Curry disappointed by Green’s ejection in the game, but Coach Steve Kerr also deemed it “unforgivable.”
Despite Curry’s exceptional performance, the Warriors’ failure to make the playoffs would greatly impact his legacy. Despite being a four-time NBA champion, the team has faced struggles throughout the season.
