After Mackenzie Dern’s dog passed away, fans have been pouring in support for her.

Despite being recognized as the UFC women’s strawweight renowned for her impressive jiu-jitsu abilities, Dern is also a 31-year-old American who leads a normal life as a mother and member of society, with her own personal life and family.

Earlier today, Dern took to Instagram to announce the passing of her beloved dog, Dalilah. In a heartfelt message accompanied by a compilation of photos and videos, she expressed her deep sadness and grief over the loss.

“I lost my best friend Dalilah today. You picked me in the beginning and we stuck together through EVERYTHING! I’ve been through a lot of things that wouldn’t have been possible without YOU by my side. Thank you God for putting you in my life and thank you for being this wonderful dog, protector, partner, my safe harbor, and a blessing in my life. I love you forever and ever”

Future Plans for Mackenzie Dern in the UFC

Mackenzie Dern had a promotional record of 6-1 inside the Octagon at one point. During that time, the UFC women’s mainstay earned victories over Ashley Yoder, Amanda Cooper, Hannah Cifers, Randa Markos, Virna Jandiroba, and Nina Nunes.

Regrettably, Dern has faced difficulties against high-caliber opponents as of late, suffering four losses in her last six fights. Among these was a unanimous decision loss to Amanda Lemos earlier this year.

Despite this, the 31-year-old has remained in the rankings and currently holds the eighth spot in the strawweight division. While there is no confirmation on her next fight, it is anticipated that she will go up against another ranked opponent and potentially solidify her position as a top contender by the end of the year.
