Celebrating Two Decades of God of War with a Special Edition Controller
This year marks the 20th anniversary of the iconic God of War franchise, and to commemorate this milestone, Sony and Santa Monica Studio are unveiling an exclusive limited edition DualSense controller. While there’s no new game release on the horizon, the new hardware is sure to excite fans.
Distinctive Design Inspired by Kratos
During the recent State of Play presentation, Sony showcased a stunning white controller adorned with striking red accents. The design artfully integrates homage to the series’ protagonist, Kratos, featuring a red design that elegantly flows from the right faceplate to the bumper and trigger. Fans of God of War will immediately recognize this homage.
The back of the controller is emblazoned with the phrase “God of War 20th Anniversary, ” further emphasizing the significance of this special edition.
A Tribute to Iconic Elements
According to Dela Longfish, Associate Art Director at Santa Monica Studio, the color scheme has a thoughtful inspiration rooted in Kratos’ character: “The shape of his red ink against the gray of his ash-covered skin is one of the most iconic elements of Kratos’ look.”Longfish added, “Our team made sure to represent both of these key tones in the color selection for the controller to honor the design that has defined Kratos for over two decades.”
Performance Features and Availability
In terms of functionality, this limited edition DualSense controller retains all the features of the standard model. Players can expect the same haptic feedback experience, adaptive triggers, a built-in microphone and speaker, a touchpad with a light bar, and gyro input for compatible games, ensuring a fully immersive gaming experience.

Pre-Order Details and Pricing
The DualSense Wireless Controller – God of War 20th Anniversary Limited Edition will be available for pre-order directly from Sony starting October 3rd, priced at $84.99 / €84.99 / £74.99 / ¥12, 480. An official release date is yet to be announced, but fans are encouraged to secure their orders early.
