Sony has recently revealed two stunning designs for the PS5 console and DualSense controller, inspired by the upcoming game Ghost of Yōtei. The new offerings include the “Gold Limited Edition” and the “Black Limited Edition” bundles, each featuring a PS5 Slim console equipped with a disc drive, a matching DualSense controller, and a digital download of the Ghost of Yōtei Standard Edition, packed with pre-order bonuses.
Global Release and Exclusive Availability
While the “Gold Limited Edition” will be available worldwide, the “Black Limited Edition” is a direct.playstation.com exclusive, limited to select regions. Both designs carry a distinct Japanese artistic influence, making them particularly appealing to fans of this aesthetic.
Artistic Inspirations Behind the Designs
According to Sony, the “Gold Limited Edition” draws inspiration from kintsugi, a traditional Japanese art form that repairs broken pottery with gold, representing the beauty found in imperfection and resilience. In contrast, the “Black Limited Edition” is influenced by Sumi-e, a classic technique that uses black ink to illustrate the beauty and mystery of the land, as well as underscoring the internal struggles faced by the game’s protagonist, Atsu.
Unique Design Features
Adding to their exclusivity, both console versions incorporate a distinctive maker’s seal etched with PlayStation symbols on the top cover of the consoles and on the DualSense controllers. This detail not only enhances their visual appeal but also imbues them with a sense of authenticity.
Release Date and Additional Options
The official launch date for both bundles is set for October 2nd, coinciding with the release of Ghost of Yōtei. For those who already own a PS5 Slim or PS5 Pro and are captivated by these new designs, there is no need for a complete console upgrade. Sony will offer Ghost of Yōtei “Gold Limited Edition” console covers that can easily be applied to existing consoles, and the DualSense controllers will be available for separate purchase.
