The creator behind the popular unofficial 60 FPS patch for Bloodborne, Lance McDonald, has taken down all links to the patch following a DMCA notice from Sony Interactive Entertainment. The original game is limited to 30 FPS without such modifications, and thus the patch became a sought-after improvement for gamers eager for a smoother gameplay experience.

Launched in 2015, Bloodborne has earned a reputation as one of the standout titles from FromSoftware, having sold over 7.4 million copies as a PS4 exclusive and garnering an impressive average review score of 91 on OpenCritic. The game is often criticized for not being remastered or made available on other platforms, a situation that has frustrated fans for nearly ten years.
On February 21st, 2021, I created and released a patch for Bloodborne which makes the game run at 60fps. The aspiration for a Bloodborne remaster and a PC version remains a significant desire within the community. Although repeated confirmations from insiders suggest there are no current plans for a PC release, many fans continue to hope for such developments in the future.
Recently, Shuhei Yoshida, a former PlayStation executive, provided insights into the possible reasons behind the absence of a Bloodborne remaster. He mentioned that Hidetaka Miyazaki, the game’s director, has a deep affection for the title but is apprehensive about outside involvement with the project. Given his busy schedule, it appears that the remaster is unlikely to progress without his direct input. However, this theory remains speculative.
Meanwhile, the progress of Bloodborne’s emulation on PC has been noteworthy. A significant stride was achieved last year with shadPS4, which resolved numerous sound issues that had impacted earlier emulation efforts. The continued push for an official remaster or release on PC suggests strong market demand, as numerous fans echo the call for such a project.
