These changes will take effect on May 1, 2026. The company attributed these increases to the “continued pressures in the global economic landscape.”Notably, similar price hikes were previously announced for regions such as North America, Brazil, Europe, and Japan, which started on April 2, 2026.

For context, the PlayStation 5 with a disc drive made its debut on November 12, 2020, priced at $499, while the digital edition launched at $399. Notably, this isn’t the first price increase for the console in the US, with a previous adjustment made in August 2025 attributable to tariffs. Additionally, the PlayStation 5 Pro was released on November 7, 2024, at a starting price of $699, also seeing its own price hike last year. The PlayStation Portal, which launched on November 15, 2023, is now experiencing its inaugural price increase.
