Song Kang pens a heartwarming letter to fans ahead of his military enlistment
Before his military enlistment, Song Kang wrote a heartfelt letter to his fans, leaving them feeling emotional. On April 1, the star of Sweet Home shared his letter on his online fan cafe, expressing his gratitude towards his fans.
The My Demon actor expressed his gratitude towards his fans, who have been by his side since his acting debut in 2017 with the drama The Liar and His Lover. He also fondly reminisced about the moments he shared with his fans during his 20s.
His words were,
“I won’t be by your side for a while, but time will return quickly. I hope to greet you in person again then with a grateful and healthy heart. When that time comes, I hope to see you happier than you are now.”
During his time in the military, Song Kang discussed his plans for activities outside of training. He stated,
“There are many things I want to do when I join the military, and one of them is learning a new language. I’m not going to let the year and a half go to waste. I hope that SONGPYEON (fandom name) will also spend the time in a meaningful way, doing what you want to do and finding yourselves.”

Earlier, on February 29, it was confirmed by Song Kang’s agency that he would be enlisting in the military on April 2, 2024. The actor had openly discussed his enlistment plans during the promotions for his recent drama in the past few months. While the news may not have been unexpected, it still saddens fans and supporters.
As he prepares to start his mandatory conscription on April 2, Namoo Actors agency has informed fans that there will not be any special event during his enlistment. The agency has requested fans to understand the circumstances as he will be entering the training site privately to ensure safety.
The actor from Love Alarm wrote a touching letter expressing his appreciation for his fans before beginning his military service. In the letter, he also shared his practice of writing gratitude notes before going to bed every night.
Song Kang expressed his gratitude for the unwavering support of his fans, who have celebrated his birthdays in his 20s, honored anniversaries, and shown their love in countless ways. As he wrapped up his letter, he reflected on the significance of his fandom, SONGPYEON, and sent well-wishes to his fans while he serves in the military.
“The meaning of SONGPYEON is Song Kang + Pyeon (referring to being by one’s side in Korean) for fans, which is a very meaningful name, so I will always be there, with us thinking of each other! I will come back in good health, safely, and happily! I love you SONGPYEON! I always do.”

Song Kang, who gained widespread attention for his role as Cha Hyun-su in Sweet Home, returned to the screen in the highly anticipated second season. Alongside him, season 2 also featured an all-star cast including Lee Jin-wook, Go Min-si, Jung Jin-young, and Kim Sung-cheol. Netflix has announced that the third season is set to premiere in the third quarter of 2024.
