Son Ye-jin and Ji Chang-wook in Negotiations for Lead Roles in Upcoming Netflix Historical Drama ‘Untold Scandal’: Everything We Know So Far
On October 24, Naver revealed that renowned actors Son Ye-jin and Ji Chang-wook are in discussions for roles in *Untold Scandal*, a Netflix drama adaptation of the acclaimed 2003 film of the same title. This reimagining aims to transform the historical tale originally taken from the French literary work, *Dangerous Liaisons*, set during the Joseon Dynasty.
The original *Untold Scandal*, directed by Lee Jae-yong in 2003, received considerable acclaim upon its release. The storyline centers around Madam Jo, portrayed by Lee Mi-sook, and Jo-won, played by Bae Yong-joon, who conspire to taint the innocent Lee So-ok, represented by Lee So-yeon.
The anticipated Netflix series is likely to be helmed by Jung Ji-woo, whose filmography includes *Somebody*, *Tune in for Love*, *Heart Blackened*, *Eungyo*, and *Moss*.
Filming for this series is projected to commence in March 2025.
Untold Scandal: Storyline and Cast
Their clandestine relationship, filled with perilous games of love and deceit, remains shrouded in secrecy.
Both characters veil their true emotions for one another. Madam Jo assigns Jo-won the task of seducing So-ok, who is meant to become her husband’s concubine.
Concurrently, Jo-won’s interest shifts to Lady Jung, a devout Catholic who has remained chaste since the passing of her husband nine years prior.
Son Ye-jin’s agency, MSteam Entertainment, confirmed that she has received an casting proposal for *Untold Scandal* and is currently evaluating it.
Likewise, Ji Chang-wook’s agency, Spring Company, acknowledged that he is also considering a role in this production.
In this latest adaptation titled *Untold Scandal*, Son Ye-jin is anticipated to embody the character of Madam Jo, while Ji Chang-wook is set to play Jo-won.
These roles will be reinterpreted within a dramatic series format, providing a deeper examination of their characters’ motivations and interactions compared to the film.

Ji Chang-wook, born on July 5, 1987, is a South Korean actor and singer who rose to fame with his lead role as Dong-hae in the daily drama *Smile Again*.
