Solving the Coin Puzzle in Wood Side Apartments: Silent Hill 2 Guide

Fans of Konami and Bloober Team can now enjoy their anticipated title, Silent Hill 2, especially those who have opted for the Digital Deluxe edition. Conversely, players who own the Standard Edition will have access beginning on October 8, 2024. For those already navigating through Silent Hill 2 and encountering difficulties with the iconic coin puzzle located in the Wood Side Apartments, this guide is here to assist you.

This particular puzzle is reminiscent of one found in the original Silent Hill 2, which debuted in 2001. If you are on normal difficulty, your quest revolves around locating three coins—essential items necessary for unlocking the cabinet within the apartment for your progression in the game.

Guide to the Silent Hill 2 Coin Puzzle

The initial coin can be found in apartment 206. To access this apartment, you must first enter apartment 208. By moving the cabinet in room 208, you will create a pathway to 206, where a safe is waiting. The combination to this safe is: right 13, left 7, right 11. Upon cracking the safe, you will retrieve your first coin.

Your second coin awaits you in the trash chute on the third floor. Look for a small hole that allows you to crawl into the chute. Using the canned juice nearby, clear the obstruction, which will cause the coin to fall. You can find it on the ground level in the courtyard.

The final coin is located within the pool, where you will encounter the Lying Figure enemies. You need to act swiftly to avoid these foes and reach the baby carriage situated in the water. After successfully obtaining the carriage, you’ll discover the third coin nestled inside.

Having gathered all three coins, head back to the cabinet to complete the puzzle. Position the Man coin (the first one) beneath the moon, place the Woman coin (from the trash chute) in the center, and finally, put the last coin in the rightmost slot.

To finish, flip the Man coin and slide it to the right, then shift the Woman coin similarly. Flip all three coins over. Finally, move the coin retrieved from the pool to the uppermost slot to unlock the cabinet. Inside, you will find the key to apartment 201, where even more intriguing puzzles await you.
