Walkthrough for Echoes of Old Battles
As you venture into the devastated settlement in southern Qinghe, pay attention to the wanderer lurking by the fortress walls. Their revelations about the Northern Vow’s treasure set the stage for your adventure.
Once inside the dilapidated fortress, you will need to confront various foes. On your left, you will encounter a training arena where the bandit leader interrogates a prisoner. Defeat this bandit leader and examine the treasure map he leaves behind.
Your next objective involves activating certain contraptions marked by red circles near the flaming devices against the southern and northwestern walls, as well as one at the top of the training arena. If you’re colorblind like me, these can be a bit tricky to spot!
Once all the necessary contraptions are lit, a circular mechanism will emerge from the ground. Execute a Heavenly Slam by pressing the stick while airborne to reveal a hidden area.
Descend into the catacombs and open the chamber door, where you’ll discover a fallen warrior posed in the unique salute of the Northern Vow. Continuing through this subterranean locale, you will find a larger chamber containing a statue. Interacting with this statue prompts your character to perform the proper emote, which will illuminate symbols on the walls.
Solution to the Wall Symbol Puzzle
Your task at this stage is to recreate the sacred motto of the Northern Vow using the illuminated symbols that appear on the walls.
Reference Clue 3 for the correct symbols. For the solution, you will need to press in the blocks that do not appear in the clue. The remaining illuminated blocks will then spell out the motto of the Northern Vow.
To achieve this, follow these steps:
- On the left wall, push in the furthest block located in the top-left corner.
- On the right wall, push in the first and third interactable blocks.
- By doing so, you will successfully recreate the Northern Vow’s motto, granting you access to the next area.
Next, drop down into the cave with the waterwheel, where your mission shifts to unclogging the wooden structure obstructing your path.
Proceed through the concealed passage behind the waterfall and interact with the chain attached to the cave wall. This action will loosen the waterwheel and unlock the final stone gate.
Push through the last door to discover the resting place of the Northern Vow, the site of their final stand against invaders. Instead of gleaming treasure, you will acquire the knowledge of their legendary technique known as the Mystic Art, specifically the Touch of Death. This powerful skill enables you to deal significant damage to unsuspecting enemies through a stealthy strike.
After reading the inscription on the wall behind the treasure, a cutscene will commence, marking the completion of your quest. To exit the secret chamber, interact with the white icon located behind you, and return to the surface.
