In the manhwa, Sung Jin-Woo encounters Kargalgan while participating in an A-Rank Dungeon raid. At that time, Jin-Woo was awaiting his S-Rank license and was still classified as an E-Rank Hunter. Assigned to the mining team, he successfully concealed his immense potential until an altercation with the High Orcs revealed his true power.

This Dungeons craftily tests the party’s abilities when Kargalgan makes his entrance. Unlike other bosses, Kargalgan could communicate in human language, unleashing an aura that paralyzed his foes with fear. He took particular pleasure in not only killing his victims but also tormenting them first.

Conflict with Jin-Woo

Upon sealing the Gate’s exit, Kargalgan summoned the remaining party members, eager to entertain his soldiers by playing with their prey. Realizing the overwhelming odds, Jin-Woo decided to bring forth his Shadow Army.“You’re going to regret… looking down on me and my Shadows, ” he declared to Kargalgan.

Kargalgan was not taken aback when Jin-Woo eliminated a High Orc with a mere gesture, but he was astonished to recognize the extraordinary strength held by a human. Even with Jin-Woo’s Shadow Army vanquishing many High Orcs, Kargalgan remained confident that Jin-Woo would soon exhaust his mana, halting his shadowy revival. Unexpectedly, Jin-Woo turned the tides by incorporating the corpses of the fallen High Orcs into his Shadow Army. In that moment, Kargalgan understood that he faced not an ordinary human, but a true Monarch.

Kargalgan’s Downfall Against Jin-Woo

During the intense battle, Kargalgan insisted that he and his Orcs were merely following orders to “slaughter humans”and expressed confusion over why a Monarch would support a human. Nevertheless, he braced for combat against Jin-Woo, fully aware that he was outmatched.

Kargalgan’s attempts to curse Jin-Woo proved fruitless, as his Orc generals fell to Jin-Woo’s powerful Shadow Soldiers, including Igris, Tank, and Iron. In a futile attempt to gain the upper hand, Kargalgan thought enlarging his form would intimidate Jin-Woo; however, as the protagonist insightfully claimed, this adjustment made him an “easy target.”

The battle escalated with support from the Hunter Association’s surveillance team and Cha Hae-In, who had entered the dungeon to assist those trapped within. Their surprise turned to admiration as they witnessed Jin-Woo single-handedly conquering a top-tier A-Rank Dungeon.

Ultimately, Jin-Woo triumphed over Kargalgan, who fell to his might while his Shadow Army dealt with the remaining High Orcs. Following Kargalgan’s defeat, Jin-Woo not only advanced in power but also acquired Kargalgan as part of his Shadow Army. Unable to recall the original name, he dubbed Kargalgan’s Shadow “Tusk.”

Tusk swiftly became an invaluable asset within Jin-Woo’s Shadow Army, proving himself as a formidable mage capable of casting spells and curses effectively during battles. His contributions were particularly notable in the Jeju Island arc, where he devastated large swathes of foes. Eventually, Tusk distinguished himself as one of the top five Shadow Soldiers under Jin-Woo’s command.
