Buckley and Holland have gained widespread popularity in recent years as fighters in the middleweight and welterweight categories. Additionally, they have amassed large fan bases on social media, regularly sharing entertaining posts.

During UFC Fight Night 174, Buckley made an impromptu octagon debut against Holland but unfortunately fell short.

Despite Buckley’s powerful attempts, Holland skillfully avoided his attacks and managed to land a quick counter-right that dropped him early in the match. Even as Buckley continued to throw heavy punches, ‘Trailblazer’ maintained his distance and picked him apart with precise shots.

After 32 seconds into Round 3, Holland knocked out Buckley and sent his mouthpiece flying, securing the victory.

Despite facing challenges in the middleweight division, Buckley is now focused on competing in the 170-pound weight class. In his previous fight in the octagon, he emerged victorious against Alex Morono in a unanimous decision at UFC Fight Night: Dawson vs. Green.

Buckley’s upcoming match at UFC Fight Night: Blanchfield vs. Fiorot on March 30, 2024, at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City will be against Vicente Luque.

Joaquin Buckley discusses upcoming matchup against Vicente Luque

The upcoming UFC Fight Night event will feature a highly anticipated matchup between Vicente Luque and Joaquin Buckley. This will undoubtedly be Buckley’s most challenging opponent to date. If he manages to come out victorious, he should secure a spot in the top 15 at 170 pounds and establish himself as a rising talent in the division.

Due to an injury, Sean Brady had to withdraw from the UFC Atlantic City media day earlier this week. As a result, Buckley was chosen to take his place as the opponent for No.11-ranked Luque. During the media day, Buckley shared his thoughts on the upcoming fight.

”I’m just appreciative of Vicente Luque actually taking on the challenge because, at the end of the day, no matter if I want to fight him or if the UFC want to book it, the opponent of mine has to take the fight and I’m just appreciative of Vicente Luque taking this fight.”
