Nothing Confirms Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 for the Upcoming Phone (3)
As Nothing prepares for the launch of its flagship Phone (3), the company has described it as a device that embodies the pinnacle of premium innovation and design. The latest announcement clarifies that the more powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 Elite will not be included; instead, the phone will utilize the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chipset. While some may view this as a downgrade, the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 is still a formidable alternative, promising exceptional performance.
This confirmation was made public via X (formerly Twitter) and discussed in detail on the official Community forums. Furthermore, a comprehensive 40-minute video was uploaded to YouTube, highlighting the ambitions for the Phone (3) and its Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 integration. According to the company, this chipset will grant the device its best performance to date—a significant leap forward.
Carl Pei, co-founder of Nothing, emphasized that the decision to use the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 was strategic, aimed at striking the right balance between performance and efficiency. He elaborated in the video:
We really have to outperform our previous flagship, so compared to Phone (2) it’s going to be 36% faster on CPU, 88% stronger on GPU, and 60% stronger on the NPU. But what it means in practice, it will feel a lot snappier.
Everything enhanced.

While Pei did not provide exhaustive reasons behind choosing the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 over higher-tier options, he indicated that this would mark the first occasion the company utilizes a newly launched chipset in its smartphones. This decision could be indicative of Nothing’s intention to offer cutting-edge hardware while keeping flagship pricing more accessible.
Moreover, Pei highlighted the broader mission with the Phone (3) to ensure that users experience sustained performance alongside enhanced specifications. The official unveiling of the Nothing Phone (3) is expected on July 1st, with more revelations anticipated as the launch date approaches.
