Qualcomm is set to make some adjustments to the specifications of its Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2 before the official announcement scheduled for September 23. Initial tests revealed that the performance cores could exceed speeds of 5.00GHz. However, the finalized version appears to have lower specifications. Fortunately, a reliable source indicates that both CPU and GPU clock speeds will surpass those of the Snapdragon 8 Elite, with new AnTuTu benchmarks suggesting speeds nearly 50% higher than the leading devices currently ranked on the platform.
Performance Characteristics of the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2
Similar to its predecessor, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2 maintains the ‘2 + 6′ core architecture, but enhanced by Qualcomm’s transition to TSMC’s advanced third-generation 3nm process (dubbed ‘N3P’), which allows for increased frequency capabilities. According to insider information from Digital Chat Station on Weibo, the performance cores are anticipated to run at approximately 4.60GHz, while the upgraded Adreno 840 GPU may reach clock speeds of 1.20GHz, an upgrade from the 1.10GHz offered by the previous Adreno 830 model.
Looking ahead, it is expected that Qualcomm will introduce a ‘Leading Edition’ variant of the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2 by late next year, promising even higher CPU and GPU clock speeds. This could elevate single-core and multi-core performance scores significantly, positioning Qualcomm’s flagship chip as a potential leader in smartphone silicon, especially as Apple is predicted to focus on power efficiency with its upcoming A19 and A19 Pro chips, launching later this year.

Recent rumors have surfaced about the AnTuTu scores, with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2 reportedly achieving a score of 4 million. This is a significant increase from a prior score of 3.8 million mentioned by the tipster, now marking a remarkable 49.68% increase over the top-ranked smartphone on AnTuTu’s leaderboard, which is the iQOO 13, boasting a score of 2, 671, 305 points.
Given these specifications, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2 easily surpass 10, 000 points in Geekbench 6’s multi-core scoring. However, actual scores will likely be revealed in future leaks, coming weeks before Qualcomm’s official presentation of the new chipset.
