Exciting Updates on Smite 2’s Open Beta Launch
Smite 2 has witnessed an engaging Alpha phase, marked by the consistent introduction of new Gods. As players eagerly await more content, the game is transitioning into its Open Beta phase, officially launching on January 14. This development means anyone interested in the game will soon have the opportunity to dive in without the restrictions of Alpha access.
Throughout its Alpha, the team at Hi-Rez has focused largely on Smite 2, dedicating resources that previously supported the original Smite, which first launched in 2014. Although a small team remains to maintain Smite with minor updates, most developers have shifted their efforts towards enhancing the new title. The transformation has unfortunately resulted in layoffs at Hi-Rez, a point slightly touched upon by CEO Stewart Chisam, who characterized the organizational changes as “difficult but necessary”for the future sustainability of Smite 2.
New Features and Game Modes
The forthcoming Open Beta will not only open the gates for returning players but also welcome fresh faces eager to experience the game. New content is set to be introduced during this phase, including:
- Five new Gods, featuring popular characters like Aladdin.
- Three exciting new game modes: Joust, Duel, and Assault.
This expansion aims to provide a richer gameplay experience, accommodating various play styles beyond the existing Arena and Conquest modes. Players can look forward to a significantly enhanced game that promises to keep them engaged well into the late 2030s.
Accessing Smite 2
For those who have long been waiting to explore Smite 2, access was previously restricted to those who obtained an Alpha key through Smite 2 streams or by purchasing the Founder’s Pack on Steam, which granted early access along with other incentives. As the Open Beta launches, both new and veteran players will be treated to a plethora of additional content.
