Small App Brings Apple Intelligence Features to Windows

Apple is set to introduce its Apple Intelligence capabilities on the iPhone, iPad, and Mac later this month. For Windows users feeling a bit envious of the advancements coming to Mac (especially since Copilot has limited Windows integration), there’s encouraging news: you can mimic some of these Apple Intelligence features on your Windows machine using a handy third-party application.

The application in question is called Writing Tools. True to its name, it provides extensive text manipulation capabilities across your system. It enables you to proofread content, summarize text, rephrase sentences, create bullet points, convert data into tables, and much more. Additionally, you can issue specific commands to perform actions on selected text, including translating it into different languages. This app is compatible with any software that allows text entry, such as Word, Notepad, Microsoft Edge, and various others.

Inspired by Apple Intelligence, Writing Tools is an innovative application for Windows that enhances your writing experience with AI. With just a single hotkey press, you’ll be able to correct grammar and more across your entire system. It currently stands as the leading intelligent grammar assistant available system-wide.

Powered by the Gemini 1.5 Flash model, the Writing Tools application requires users to obtain either a free or paid API key from Google. Upon your initial launch, the app will provide guidance on generating your key and allow you to customize the default shortcut trigger (which is Ctrl + Space).

It’s important to highlight that Writing Tools does not utilize on-device processing models, so consider potential privacy concerns when using this application. According to the developer, the program is open source and does not gather any personal data aside from sending encrypted text to Google for processing. Furthermore, keep in mind that an active internet connection is necessary to use Writing Tools.

You can either download the most recent version or compile the application yourself.
