Exciting Update: Community Shaders Enhances Skyrim Graphics Mod

In a noteworthy development for the modding community, the Community Shaders team has unveiled a significant update to their Skyrim graphics framework mod. This latest release, version 1.2.0, incorporates new features that further elevate the game’s visual fidelity. Highlights include the introduction of support for AMD FSR 3 Frame Generation, promising a remarkable 60-70% performance boost for the majority of players.

NVIDIA DLSS and Performance Improvements

While the update also enhances the NVIDIA DLSS Frame Generation feature, it is important to note that it is based on an earlier version, as the latest iterations do not support DirectX 11. Unfortunately, features such as Multi Frame Generation and NVIDIA Reflex are currently unsupported, pending fixes from NVIDIA. However, good news for AMD users: AMD Anti-Lag 2 is now compatible.

Optimized Frame Generation

According to the developers, the newly introduced Frame Generation technology optimizes the game experience similarly to the well-received Display Tweaks mod. Users are advised against using both simultaneously, although compatibility remains. The frame generation feature particularly excels when a system can maintain a baseline of around 60 frames per second, effectively doubling it to 120 fps. This results in smooth frame pacing, and while it typically activates only on displays with a 120Hz refresh rate or higher, it can also be manually enabled via the Community Shaders panel.

Additional Enhancements and Features

The Community Shaders 1.2.0 update also encompasses various other enhancements, such as:

  • A new grass shading model and enhanced collision detection for grass
  • Correction of parallax shading issues
  • Mipmap LOD bias adjustments for TAA, FSR, and DLAA, resulting in sharper textures
  • The latest transformer model for DLAA
  • Tweaks to screen space global illumination
  • Enhanced skylighting and improved shading
  • Refined wetness effects and various tonemapping adjustments
