Sister Wives star Christine Brown has recently shared some thoughts that suggest she might be experiencing challenging times again. As a 53-year-old mother of five who has navigated significant changes in her life, Christine’s journey has been anything but smooth. After ending her 27-year marriage with polygamist patriarch Kody Brown in 2021, I was taken aback—she had always seemed more dependent on her family structure. Yet, despite my initial assumptions, Christine has demonstrated remarkable independence.
Following her split from Kody, Christine quickly re-entered the dating scene, showing a courageous willingness to embrace new love after the traumatic end of her marriage. Although she had wished to mend her relationship with Kody, she ultimately realized that it was time to move on. Her budding romance with David Woolley began shortly thereafter and was prominently featured during Season 19 of Sister Wives. Initially, I believed Christine was flourishing in her new life, but her recent remarks regarding heartbreak have raised concerns.
Concerns Over Christine & David’s Swift Relationship
Should She Have Taken More Time?

After her divorce, Christine met David in 2022, and the couple moved in together after just under a year of dating. This was surprising to many, given that Christine typically presented a more reserved persona and had her youngest child, Truly Brown, living with her. Nonetheless, she took a bold step and decided to cohabit with her new partner, who is not only a widower but also has eight children and ten grandchildren. Their family dynamics are undeniably complex. Shortly after moving in together, David proposed, and Christine accepted.
The couple had a televised wedding, underscoring their quick progression into a committed relationship. David contrasts sharply with Kody in many aspects; he is more subdued, less emotional, and significantly, he has no desire for a polygamous lifestyle. However, I still believe that Christine may have rushed into marriage. After spending 27 years with Kody, I feel that some additional time alone could have been beneficial for her self-discovery and personal growth. As a devoted admirer of Christine, I sincerely hope I am mistaken about her new relationship.
Christine’s Words Hint at Struggles
Reflections on a Tumultuous Year
On January 1, 2025, Christine took to Instagram to reflect on her past year. The caption accompanying her recap read, “What a year it has been—From unbelievable heartbreak to unforgettable adventures, this year has been all about growth, joy in hardship, and finding the courage to choose happiness.” The phrase “heartbreak” resonated deeply with me.
Initially, I feared she was alluding to her relationship with David, but I quickly recalled the profound tragedy the Brown family faced in 2024. In March, they were rocked by the tragic passing of Garrison Brown, Kody’s son with his second wife, Janelle Brown. Despite not being Garrison’s biological mother, Christine played a significant role in his life and shared a special bond with him while raising their children together. Given that she was often the primary caregiver, Garrison’s death must have been extremely painful for Christine.
While Christine experienced several positive moments in 2024, grappling with Garrison’s loss could hinder her ability to fully embrace happiness. This emotional struggle is commonly referred to as survivor’s guilt, where one finds it hard to enjoy life amidst the sorrow of losing a loved one. Additionally, Christine’s closeness with Janelle, Garrison’s mother, has likely kept her engaged in supporting her former sister wife during this difficult time. It seems more likely that Christine’s remarks about heartbreak were aimed at reflecting on Garrison rather than her marriage.
Transformation Through Relationship
The Evolution of Christine
It is fascinating to witness the profound changes Christine has undergone since her split from Kody and subsequent marriage to David. While my initial reactions to these changes were skeptical, I’ve since come to believe that Christine was suppressing her true self during her marriage. Being with David has seemingly liberated her to embrace her authentic identity. From adopting tattoos to embracing a more adventurous lifestyle, such as motorcycle riding, Christine appears more genuine and fulfilled than ever before, which is truly commendable.
