Sister Wives chronicles the complex lives of Kody Brown and his four wives—Meri, Janelle, Christine, and Robyn—as they navigate the intricacies of a polygamous family structure over the past 15 years. Since its debut on TLC in 2010, the series has provided fans with a unique glimpse into their multifaceted family dynamics, including the challenges that come with having 18 children and dealing with multiple relocations.
As the family transitioned from Utah to Las Vegas and ultimately to Flagstaff, Arizona, they faced a myriad of issues such as financial difficulties, evolving relationships, and legal complications associated with their lifestyle. By the time season 19 premiered in September 2024, significant transformations had taken place within the family.
Shifts in Relationships: Christine and Janelle’s New Directions
Following their separations, Christine, Janelle, and Meri each departed from their marriages with Kody, leaving Robyn as his sole wife in a more traditional monogamous setup. Season 19 of Sister Wives focuses on the individual trajectories they have begun to pursue post-separation.
Christine was the first to dissolve her marriage with Kody, making the decision in 2021. A pivotal moment in their relationship was Kody’s unwillingness to support their daughter Ysabel during a significant surgery. After settling in Utah, Christine found new love with David Woolley, whom she met through a dating app. Their romance culminated in a “fairy tale” wedding in October 2023. Embracing her new monogamous lifestyle, Christine continues to maintain a close friendship with Janelle, often integrating her into her life with David.
On the other hand, Janelle, who also parted ways with Kody at the end of 2022 after nearly 30 years, is now charting her own course. Though she continues to live in Flagstaff, she is contemplating relocating to be nearer to her daughter, Madison. Janelle is spending quality time between Arizona and North Carolina, where several of her children reside. Recently, she collaborated with Madison and her son-in-law to launch Taeda Farms, merging their shared passion into a thriving business. Despite the end of her marriage, Janelle’s bond with Christine remains strong as they support one another’s ventures.
Meri and Robyn: Navigating New Challenges
Meri, the eldest of Kody’s wives, officially ended her relationship with him in early 2023. This marked a shift from a marriage that had increasingly become a friendship. After moving back to Utah, Meri is re-entering the dating world with hopes of finding someone who offers different qualities than Kody. Resilient and proactive, she is also dedicating time to her passions, including managing her bed and breakfast, Lizzie’s Heritage Inn, which is currently undergoing renovations. Moreover, she has initiated a self-improvement platform called Worthy Up.
Conversely, Robyn, who remains in a relationship with Kody, is confronting an uncertain future. During season 19, she openly admitted that her relationship with Kody was at a low point, with both expressing feelings of rejection and doubt about their future together.
New episodes of Sister Wives air every Sunday at 10 PM ET on TLC, offering viewers the latest developments in this unique family saga.
