Sister Wives Star Robyn Brown Questions Kody’s Lack of Communication with Their Kids

In the fourth episode of Sister Wives Season 19, which aired on October 6, 2024, Robyn Brown expressed her worries regarding Kody Brown’s difficult relationship with his children. The popular TLC series continues to highlight the familial strife that has surfaced following Kody’s separations from three of his spouses: Meri, Janelle, and Christine Brown.

As the Browns grapple with their evolving family dynamics, Robyn urges Kody to intensify his efforts to reconnect with their offspring. She confronted him about his hesitance to communicate with the kids, asking,

“I just don’t understand why you’re not like, like just talking to kids as much as you can. Like, like, I just don’t know why you’re not reaching out to them more.”

This episode focused on Robyn’s initiatives to address Kody’s limited interactions with his children since the breakup. Despite her heartfelt requests, Kody explained that complications have arisen, leading to some of his children choosing not to associate with him.

Robyn’s Worries About Kody’s Parent-Child Dynamics

Throughout the fourth episode of Sister Wives, Robyn’s main concern centered around Kody’s reluctance to stay in touch with the children. She persistently pressed him during their conversation, emphasizing that his kids were suffering emotionally.

Robyn pointedly stated, “They’re hurting,” aiming to remind Kody that his disengagement was impacting their emotional well-being. However, Kody defended his position by highlighting the existing rifts in his relationship with them.

“This has been going on for so long. They’re trash talking,” Kody remarked.

Kody also mentioned a family wedding that further strained their connections, adding,

“There’s a couple of my kids who wouldn’t even engage me at the wedding. Some of them wouldn’t even talk to me.”

This breakdown of communication left Kody feeling alienated from some family members.

Kody’s View on the Family Conflict

Kody conveyed that some of his children were purposely excluding him from their lives. He believed their actions were a form of punishment, explaining to Robyn and the show’s producers how some kids had clearly distanced themselves from him. He specifically mentioned his daughter Madison, revealing,

“She never told me she was pregnant. She never told me she was going to have a baby.”

This situation aggravated Kody, who felt sidelined during significant family events. According to Kody, his absence was not a matter of choice, but rather a reflection of ongoing tensions and misunderstandings. He expressed to the producers,

“They’re purposefully leaving me out of their lives to punish me for a crime I did not commit. I am only guilty of not falling badly in love with their mothers.”

Kody further articulated his frustration about the rumors that have exacerbated the rift, stating, “Our family was killed by gossip,” referencing the discord within the family stemming from ongoing rumors.

Janelle’s Insight on Kody’s Family Relations

Janelle, Kody’s ex-wife and mother to some of his estranged children, also provided valuable insights into the family’s issues. She highlighted the reasons behind the children’s distress towards Kody, suggesting that his behavior towards the family fueled their frustration.

“The only thing the kids are upset with him is the way he has treated his family, the way he has completely like ditched out,” Janelle shared in her interview with producers.

She elaborated on Madison’s limited contact with Kody, especially since the birth of her daughter, Evie. Janelle remarked,

“Kody has not been there since Evie was born, and Evie’s three and a half.”

This absence during crucial family milestones has intensified the children’s resentment towards Kody. In contrast, Kody claimed it was unreasonable to expect him to be fully present in his grandchildren’s lives, particularly as the family resides in different areas of the country. He explained to the producers,

“It’s unrealistic expectation for grandparents to be in their grandchildren’s lives all the time, especially if you move your children to an entirely different coast.”

As Season 19 of Sister Wives unfolds, the fractured Brown family continues to face the emotional fallout from their separation. With ongoing accusations of gossip, betrayal, and emotional detachment, it remains uncertain when and how the family might reconcile their differences.

The next episode of Sister Wives is set to premiere on Sunday, October 13, 2024, at 10:00 pm ET/PT.
