Key Highlights from Sister Wives Season 19 Episode 5
Kody’s first encounter with Mykelti’s twins opened the episode. Robyn took on the role of a supportive figure, helping Mykelti with her children, noting their distinct features that set the non-identical twins apart.
Mykelti expressed her gratitude during a confessional, appreciating Kody’s visit, which was especially welcomed after the challenges of postpartum recovery and geographical distance.
Later, Kody proposed the idea of purchasing a home in Flagstaff for Mykelti and her husband, Tony, to live in. However, Mykelti turned down the suggestion and indicated a willingness for family visits instead.
Kody reflected on his dreams of a large family, with Robyn acknowledging that whenever Kody shows vulnerability, it’s evident he misses the family’s closeness.
In another scene, Janelle and her son Gabriel prepared dinner together, leading to a heartfelt discussion about their strained relationship with Kody. Gabriel, the son of Janelle and Kody, admitted feeling disconnected from his father since Robyn entered the picture.
During a recent chat, Kody sought an apology from Gabriel, leaving him perplexed.
Janelle reflected on Kody’s parenting, stating he was attentive during Gabriel’s younger years but gradually shifted his focus to the other children. She also asserted that Kody seems intent on being the patriarch of the family.
“I’m not quite sure what Kody truly desires. Last I checked, he believes the kids should embrace him as their patriarch, which I think would require them to align with how Kody and Robyn view life,”shared Janelle.
Meri provided insights into her relationship with Kody on Sister Wives. Following their legal divorce in 2014, she remained “spiritually married” to Kody until their formal separation in 2023.
Describing the season as “interesting,”Meri noted that Kody had been pushing for her to move on, which hinted to her that he wanted to avoid responsibility in their breakup.
This led her to pursue a formal end to their spiritual union through the church. Though she sought input from Kody regarding her feelings, he never responded. Eventually, the church granted her a release from their spiritual marriage.
During dinner, Janelle and Gabriel also discussed Robyn’s influence within the family. Gabriel suggested that Robyn might possess a victim mentality. Subsequently, Janelle revealed her children harbor significant resentment towards Robyn, feeling their words had often been misrepresented during their upbringing.
Gabriel concluded their conversation by reaffirming his efforts to cultivate a good relationship with Robyn’s children, mentioning that if Robyn perceived otherwise, he wouldn’t want to maintain a connection with her.
As the episode drew to a close, Robyn became emotional about the distance between family members and expressed her desire to invite Meri over for Christmas.
