Sister Wives Fans React to Meri’s Divorce from Kody: “Glad You Got Your Release”

The newest episode of Sister Wives Season 19 premiered on Sunday, October 13, 2024, featuring a significant moment where Meri Brown officially revealed the conclusion of her marriage to Kody Brown. Meri, who was Kody’s first wife, had previously divorced him to facilitate his legal marriage to Robyn, his fourth wife, and enable him to adopt her three children.

Even though they were legally divorced, Meri and Kody maintained a spiritual union as per their church’s traditions. However, in this recent episode, Meri disclosed that she had formally dissolved her spiritual marriage with Kody, freeing herself from all connections to her former husband.

During her announcement, Meri indicated that Kody did not engage in the separation process and had ignored her attempts to communicate via text. Fans of Sister Wives expressed their enthusiasm over this development; while some celebrated Meri’s newfound freedom, others voiced their concerns about Kody’s treatment of her on social media platforms like X.

“Meri, that’s right! I’m glad you got your release from him. Now, hire a lawyer and claim your money. We’re not paying heed to Kody’s falsehoods about you. We see him for who he truly is,”wrote a supportive fan.

Despite their tumultuous history, Meri chose to abstain from publicly criticizing Kody on-screen.

“Meri is truly dignified. She stated she doesn’t intend to join the bitter ex-wives club, which means she won’t publicly belittle Kody, despite many wanting her to. She remains a loyal individual and could definitely speak candidly about him if she wished,” a social media user reflected.

Numerous fans of Sister Wives praised Meri for her courageous decision to cut ties with Kody.

“I’m so proud of Meri for finally divorcing Kody!!”stated a user.

“I have great respect for Meri for reclaiming her self-worth and leaving. Robyn is selfish for not celebrating her,”commented another.

“Meri to Kody: I just wish you understood how amazing I am. That’s my girl, know your worth and stand your ground!”another fan shared.

Conversely, many Sister Wives viewers criticized Kody for his lack of engagement during the separation.

“Kody’s silence regarding Meri’s release is typical behavior. Even at the conclusion of their decades-long marriage, he can’t show respect. He owed her at least a response,”one user tweeted.

“I’m puzzled as to why Meri went through this process since Kody hasn’t cared for her in over a decade. I didn’t expect him to respond because he is a self-centered person who only sees himself and Robyn,”another comment read.

“It’s evident he literally despises her. It frustrates me how she gives him the satisfaction of disrespecting her continuously,”another netizen expressed.

Meri Brown Ends All Connections with Kody Brown

While addressing the cameras, Meri shared that Kody attempted to persuade her to end their marriage so he could maintain an image of being “clean.”She believed he did this to shirk responsibility for the collapse of their marriage in the future. His attitude prompted Meri to take action regarding the official termination through their church.

Meri explained that although she informed Kody of her decision, he never responded, leading her to proceed with the separation alone.

She traveled to the Utah church where their marriage took place and was granted a release, essentially equivalent to a divorce. Meri admitted that her dialogue with church leaders was “heartbreaking,”as it was far from the future she envisioned when she married Kody.

“When we marry, it’s for eternity—that was the intention. Once I had that spiritual union terminated, it means it’s done. There are no bonds left holding us together for eternity,”Meri stated.

Ultimately, Meri declared that there were no remaining ties binding her and Kody “in any form.”
