The Sims 4 serves as an expansive virtual playground where players can unleash their imaginations. This acclaimed life simulation game has numerous downloadable content (DLC) packs that enrich the gameplay, introducing new activities and features. Among these is The Sims 4: Businesses and Hobbies, which allows players to establish small businesses and monetize their Sims’ hobbies.
With the introduction of small businesses, players gain the opportunity to enable their skilled Sims to sell items, host activities, or conduct classes, thereby generating income from their interests. Here’s a guide on how to attend a class within the Businesses and Hobbies expansion.
Attending a Class in The Sims 4
To participate in a class, players must ensure they have at least one small business set up in their game. The new world introduced in the Businesses and Hobbies expansion, Nordhaven, features two small businesses: Terra-Potta and Spilled Neon. Players can create additional small businesses if they manage multiple families within a single save file.

In order to hold classes, a Hobby Whiteboard must be available on the lot designated as a small business. Classes are led by Sims proficient in a skill at level 3 or higher. To sign up for a class, follow these steps:
- Use your cellphone to travel to a small business lot.
- Purchase an entry ticket.
- Interact with the Hobby Board.
- Select “Ask to Start a Class…”.
- Choose from the listed classes available.
- Determine which Sim will host the class.
- Complete the objectives set for the class.
All small businesses are plotted on the map with a dollar sign ($) icon. If a business operates from a residential lot, a menu appears allowing players to choose either the home or the business to visit.
To enroll in classes or activities, players must buy an entry ticket from a Ticket Kiosk. After registration, locate the Hobby Board and select “Ask to Start a Class.”If a host is available, the class can commence at the player’s convenience.

Once the class begins, objectives will display on the top left of the screen. While specific goals may vary by class type, common activities include:
- Listening to a lecture for 45 minutes.
- Creating a ceramic piece.
- Receiving mentorship for 30 minutes.
- Making a new friend.
- Inspiring others.
To maximize success, players should focus on completing the longer tasks before the class concludes.
Achieving a Gold Medal in Class

To secure a gold medal in a class, remain active and attentive to the activity requirements. Accumulating enough completed tasks will change the meter to green, ultimately showcasing a gold medal once achieved.

When Sims obtain a gold medal in their classes, they are rewarded with the Creative Brilliance buff, enhancing their creativity skills and accelerating their learning pace. Players can leverage this buff to refine various creative skills like painting, knitting, singing, and more. With the opportunities provided by The Sims 4: Businesses and Hobbies, mastering skills has never been easier.
