On October 16, 2024, tragically, Liam Payne, the former member of One Direction, was discovered deceased in Buenos Aires after falling from the balcony of his hotel room located on the third floor. “In light of the tragic loss of Liam Payne, BGT will be postponing auditions scheduled for today in Blackpool. We regret any inconvenience this may cause.”

Back in 2010, under Simon Cowell’s guidance, Liam, alongside Louis Tomlinson, Zayn Malik, Harry Styles, and Niall Horan, was assembled into a boyband on The X Factor, which subsequently became known as One Direction.

Alberto Crescenti, the director of SAME, disclosed to local media that Liam fell from a height estimated between 13 and 14 meters, resulting in injuries that were deemed “incompatible with life.”

According to reports from the BBC, local police have confirmed that upon inspection of the hotel premises where the incident took place, they discovered a lighter, a mobile phone, and a bottle of whiskey on the ground floor. Staff at the hotel also noted that Liam’s room was found in total disarray, with multiple items damaged, and they recovered several packets of medication, including Clonazepam, as well as over-the-counter drugs, alongside his passport and a notebook.

The BBC reported that Liam’s family expressed their profound sorrow in a statement, affirming that their hearts will forever carry Liam’s memory. They characterized him as a funny, kind, and brave individual whose legacy will endure.

Just two weeks prior, on October 2, 2024, Liam was seen at a concert for his bandmate Niall Horan in Buenos Aires. Ahead of the event, he shared a message on Snapchat expressing his desire to “square up”some things with Niall, stating:

“It’s been a while since me and Niall have spoken. We’ve got a lot to talk about. And I would like to square up a couple of things with the boy. No bad vibes or anything like that. But just, um, we need to talk.”

As of now, Liam’s former bandmates have not yet released any public statements regarding his untimely death. The official X account for The X Factor conveyed their sorrow, stating they were heartbroken by the loss of the talented singer.
