Achieving 100% completion in Silent Hill f presents a significantly greater challenge compared to the Silent Hill 2 Remake. With a multitude of trophies linked to various game difficulties and endings, players will find themselves engaged in multiple playthroughs to unlock every achievement.
Fortunately, not every trophy poses a challenge, such as the trophy titled A Federal Offense. To earn this trophy, players simply need to break into Sakuko’s mailbox for a little exploration. Inside, unexpected surprises await.
The challenge lies in locating the mailbox key, which is situated far from Sakuko’s home. It’s easy to overlook this objective as you progress through the game. While it’s feasible to wait for New Game+ to access the mailbox immediately, there’s a more timely solution.
Acquiring the key is simpler than it seems, requiring just a bit of navigation in Ebisugaoka.
Locating Sakuko’s Mailbox Key
Whoops, I Left It at the Shrine
The key for Sakuko’s mailbox is surprisingly distant from her residence, hidden away near a grave at the Igarashi Clan shrine. By this point in the game, you should have accessed the Dark Shrine, but be cautious — progressing too far can lead you past a critical point (the Field puzzle) and force you to return during a later playthrough.
When facing the shrine, look to the left side where you’ll find the key and several documents nestled among smaller graves. The key is visible and easy to spot.
After retrieving the key, players must trek back toward the starting area of the game. While it’s tempting to delay this task, be mindful that the town becomes increasingly perilous, filled with enemies that can overwhelm you. It’s advisable to head to the mailbox promptly to avoid unnecessary encounters.
Finding Sakuko’s Mailbox
Prepare for Backtracking
You will first encounter Sakuko’s house and, by extension, her mailbox, during an early cutscene while heading towards Chizuruya. Make a mental note of this location, as well as the Missing Persons board nearby—both serve as crucial landmarks as the game world becomes increasingly chaotic.
From the shrine, you’ll need to backtrack to reach Sakuko’s home. The most efficient method involves retracing your steps to Chizuruya, then navigating back from the original route. If you spot a well, you’re on the right track. Simply approach her house and interact with the mailbox.

Upon opening Sakuko’s mailbox, you will discover documents alongside a Spider Omamori charm, which significantly reduces weapon durability usage when executing light attacks. Congratulations, you’ve also unlocked the A Federal Offense trophy!
