Sloclap’s New Game ‘Rematch’ Surges in Popularity
Renowned for their innovative fighting titles such as Sifu and Absolver, the development team at Sloclap recently ventured into the realm of competitive multiplayer games with their newest offering, Rematch. Launched just last week, this soccer/football game quickly gained traction, reaching nearly 100, 000 concurrent players on Steam alone. Remarkably, within a short period, it has sold over a million copies while the studio shares exciting statistics from the ongoing gameplay.
Impressive Gameplay Metrics
Since its debut on June 19, players have engaged in an astounding 11.78 million matches, culminating in an impressive 55.58 million goals, 33.54 million assists, and 69.12 million goalkeeper saves. These figures highlight not only the game’s popularity but also the vibrant and active player community that has formed around it.
Sales Success and Subscription Availability
The achievement of reaching the one-million sales mark is particularly noteworthy for a premium title priced at $29.99. The game’s availability on subscription services like Microsoft’s Game Pass undoubtedly contributed to its swift player growth. Both the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass users had access to Rematch on its release day without any additional cost. As a result, the game has already attracted 2.5 million players, including those utilizing these subscription options.
Launch Challenges and Response
Despite its rapid success, the launch of Rematch wasn’t without its hurdles. Cross-platform play, a highly anticipated feature, was missing during the initial rollout. Sloclap has announced that adding crossplay functionality is now their top priority alongside resolving bugs and improving server performance. Additionally, multiple hotfixes were rolled out over the weekend to address various issues, including matchmaking bugs, desynchronizations, and game crashes.
Community Feedback and Future Updates
Player feedback has shown improvement post-hotfixes, with the game currently holding a 78% Mostly Positive rating on Steam. Looking ahead, Sloclap has plans for future updates that include the integration of AI bots for training, enhanced social features for creating teams, a dedicated tournament system with clubs, and significant gameplay enhancements via a public test server.
Rematch is now live on multiple platforms, including PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5, alongside its availability on Game Pass.
