Shuhei Yoshida Ventures into Voice Acting for Promise Mascot Agency
Former PlayStation president Shuhei Yoshida is making an exciting shift from the boardroom to the recording studio, joining the voice acting ensemble for the upcoming game, Promise Mascot Agency. This announcement comes from the developers at Kaizen Game Works, who have assembled a prominent cast that includes renowned figures from the gaming world.
A Star-Studded Voice Cast
The voice ensemble for Promise Mascot Agency is as colorful as it is talented. Yoshida stars as a kappa mascot with a passion for gaming, a surprising yet delightful role considering his management background. He is joined by Hidetaka “Swery” Suehiro, the visionary behind Deadly Premonition, who will portray a priest in the game. The vibrant cast also features Ayano Shibuya, known for her performance in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, and Eri Saito from Chainsaw Man. Completing the key roles is Takaya Kuroda, the legendary voice behind Kazuma Kiryu from the beloved Yakuza/Like a Dragon series, who takes on the role of the protagonist.
A Unique Gaming Experience
Promise Mascot Agency is designed around the theme of operating a mascot agency in a fantastical realm inhabited by living mascots. Players will follow the journey of Michi, a disgraced yakuza attempting to carve out a new existence with the help of Pinky, a whimsical finger-shaped mascot. The game promises a blend of engaging mechanics including management simulation, action-packed driving sequences featuring a kei truck, and immersive visual novel storytelling.
Developed by Kaizen Game Works, known for their innovative approach in titles such as Paradise Killer, the game has also benefited from the creative insights of Ikumi Nakamura, who enhanced its authenticity and cultural appeal.
Community Reactions to Yoshida’s Casting
Although having Shuhei Yoshida in a voice acting role might seem unconventional, it reflects his influential status in the gaming industry, likely endearing him to fans and players alike. Since announcing his retirement from Sony, this venture into voice acting could mark a new chapter in his career, demonstrating his versatility and passion for the medium.
