Should You Buy Monster Hunter Wilds Premium Deluxe Edition? A Worthy Investment?

Monster Hunter Wilds, the eagerly awaited addition to Capcom’s iconic action RPG series, has finally announced its release date. Accompanying this announcement are extensive details regarding the game’s pre-order options and the various editions Capcom plans to offer for this latest installment in the Monster Hunter franchise.

This marks the series’ inaugural launch on current-generation consoles, specifically the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. As such, Wilds will be priced at $70 for the Standard Edition, a significant milestone as it is the first mainline release in the franchise to carry this price tag. As in tradition with modern titles in the series, multiple editions of Wilds will be available.

While the starting price for the game is $70, it can ascend to a remarkable $110 for the Premium Deluxe Edition. This raises the question— is paying an additional $40 for the Monster Hunter Wilds Premium Deluxe Edition justified, or is it more prudent to opt for the Standard Edition? Let’s dive into the details.

Is the Monster Hunter Wilds Premium Deluxe Edition Worth the $110?

The Premium Deluxe Edition includes the Premium and Deluxe Packs, as well as add-on costume bundles set to be released as post-launch DLCs. Despite the array of exclusive cosmetics offered, the Monster Hunter Wilds Premium Deluxe Edition does not provide enough compelling content to justify the $40 markup over the base game.

Thus, pre-ordering the Premium Deluxe Edition is not recommended. However, if you’re willing to spend $40 on just cosmetics and are a dedicated fan of the series, there’s no harm in securing the most expensive digital version. Nonetheless, for most players, the Standard Edition is the more sensible option.

What’s Included in Monster Hunter Wilds Premium Deluxe Edition?

The Premium Deluxe Edition encompasses everything that comes with the Standard and Deluxe Editions, along with a variety of additional post-launch cosmetics. The main draw of the Premium Deluxe Edition is to gain access to the post-launch DLCs. However, these DLCs are primarily cosmetic items and a handful of new hairstyles.

Moreover, these DLCs can be acquired separately at a later time for approximately the same price, rendering the Premium Deluxe Edition rather unnecessary.

Here’s a breakdown of the different editions of Monster Hunter Wilds:

  • Seikret decorations: 2
  • Pendants: 6 (Color variations)
  • Pose Sets: 1

  • Sticker set: 1
  • BGM Set: 1

Cosmetic DLC Pack 2 (set for release in Summer 2025) includes:

The pre-order bonus features:

While it may seem like the Premium Deluxe Edition provides a reasonable bundle, at $110, it doesn’t deliver enough value. A $20 premium would have made more sense, but $40 is too steep.

Monster Hunter Wilds is set to launch on February 28, 2025, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Windows PC.
