SHINee’s Taemin joins Big Planet Made Entertainment & shares new profile photos
On April 1, 2024, Big Planet Made Entertainment made a public announcement on Instagram that SHINee’s Taemin had officially signed an exclusive contract with the agency. This decision was made after the expiration of Taemin’s previous contract with SM Entertainment in March. The agency has also shared attractive profile photos of the idol on their Instagram page.
Taemin, whose real name is Lee Tae-min, is a multi-talented artist from South Korea. He made his debut in May 2008 as a member of the popular boy group SHINee. In 2019, he was also announced as a member of the highly anticipated supergroup SuperM, managed by SM Entertainment. He has earned the title “Idol’s Idol”from Korean media and has been a source of inspiration for many fellow artists.
Taemin’s Solo Activities Managed by Big Planet Made Entertainment
Despite Taemin’s exclusive Individual contract with SM Entertainment expiring in March 2024, the record label had previously assured that SHINee’s activities would still be managed by them. This suggests that Taemin may continue to work with the agency for the group’s projects.
The newly created agency, Big Planet Made Entertainment, will manage all of the idol’s endeavors, such as solo albums, singles, and other projects. Established in 2021, BPM Entertainment has formed a strategic partnership with Swing Entertainment (a subsidiary of CJ ENM). The agency is currently headed by CEO Kim Dong-jun, with co-founders Mc Mong and Park Jang-geun.
Big Planet Made Entertainment also announced their exclusive contract with South Korean media outlet Star News, as translated by Soompi, in their official statement.
“We recently signed an exclusive contract with singer Taemin, who is unparalleled in his activities both as SHINee’s main dancer and as a solo artist. We will actively support Taemin’s wide range of activities in his music career, and we will do our utmost so that he can soar in broader places and various directions. We ask that you give lots of support and love to Taemin as he makes a new start.”
The agency also unveiled the idol’s latest profile photos on Instagram, featuring him in a long black trench coat, a white blouse, black pants, and shoes. In the photos, the singer showcased a variety of intense expressions. As the news spread, fans took to congratulating the idol on his upcoming journey and expressed their hopes that BPM Entertainment will provide him with even more opportunities.
Further insights into Taemin’s life and career
The idol made his debut as a solo artist with the release of his first extended play (EP), Ace, which topped the Gaon Album Chart. In 2016, he also dropped his first studio album, Press It, which also reached number one on the same chart. That same year, he also entered the Japanese music scene with his second EP, Sayonara Hitori.
In the upcoming year, he released his second Korean studio album, Move, which gained widespread attention from fans all over the world. In 2020, he unveiled his new studio album, Never Gonna Dance Again, and followed it up with the release of his fourth mini album Guilty on October 30, 2023, marking his highly-anticipated return after a six-year hiatus.
The idol has made appearances in numerous productions such as Athena: Goddess of War, Salamander Guru and The Shadows, Dating Agency: Cyrano, as well as in various variety shows including We Got Married, The Unit, and others.
Following the release of his Extended play, Guilty, he embarked on his fifth concert tour, Metamorph. The tour began on December 16, 2023, at the Inspire Arena in Incheon, South Korea, and ended on March 10, 2024.
