“She shoots it better than me” – Luka Doncic hails Caitlin Clark, claims she’s more Steph Curry-esque than him

Add Luka Doncic to the long list of Caitlin Clark admirers. On Monday, April 1, the Dallas Mavericks player revealed he had caught a glimpse of Clark’s remarkable display in the NCAA Tournament. Doncic was quick to commend Clark for her exceptional 41-point showing against LSU in the Elite Eight, showering her with praise.

Despite being a top contender for MVP this season, Doncic himself admitted that Clark may excel in certain aspects on the basketball court, a testament to Clark’s skills and abilities.

“Amazing. What did she have? Forty-one? She was shooting that ball on fire. I watched some of it,” Doncic said. “She shoots it better than me. That’s for sure.”

Doncic was questioned by the reporters about Clark and whether he saw any similarities between her game and his own. However, he refuted this notion.

“She is more Steph Curry than me,” Doncic said.

It is certainly high praise for Clark, considering that Curry is widely regarded as the best shooter in history. However, Luka Doncic is also a formidable shooter, hitting an impressive 38.0% of his 3-pointers. Similar to Clark and Curry, Doncic has the ability to make deep 3-pointers with his standard jump shot form.

Clark is renowned for her versatility and ability to make three-point shots. During Monday night’s game in the NCAA Tournament, she demonstrated her exceptional stepback and long-range shooting abilities, leading Iowa to victory against LSU. This win served as redemption for her team’s defeat in the national championship against LSU last season.

Luka Doncic Makes History as Youngest Player Eligible for MVP Award

Luka Doncic has fulfilled all requirements to qualify for the end-of-season accolades. He participated in his 65th game with the Mavericks, helping them secure a victory against the Houston Rockets on Sunday.

To be considered for MVP or All-NBA honors, players are required to have played at least 65 games. Currently, Doncic is a contender for the MVP award and is highly likely to be chosen for the first team All-NBA.

Having already been selected for four consecutive All-NBA teams from 2020-23, he is on track to make it five in a row this season after meeting the necessary playing time requirement.

At some shops, Doncic is listed as the second favorite to win MVP. His odds are around 5/1, trailing behind Nikola Jokic who is favored to win his third MVP. If Doncic manages to pull off the upset, it would mark his first MVP award.

Along with recognition, the All NBA honors also bring financial benefits. Should Doncic achieve a spot on the All NBA first team or win MVP, he will qualify for a lucrative new max contract extension. This extension is not just any ordinary one, as Doncic would be eligible for a record-breaking five-year, $346 million supermax extension, making it the largest total contract value in NBA history.

Despite being on fire, the Mavericks have still managed to win nine of their last 10 games. This recent surge has greatly improved Luka Doncic’s chances for MVP. Thanks to his contributions, the Mavericks have risen to sixth place in the West and are poised to secure a spot in the top six, avoiding the Play-In Tournament this season.
