“She Did Nothing Wrong!” — American Singer ØHENRY Stands Up for Jessi in Ongoing Allegations of Fan Assault

On October 28, 2024, American artist ØHENRY took to social media to stand by South Korean rapper Jessi, who is embroiled in allegations surrounding a fan assault incident. The singer of “Steal My Love”confirmed he was present with Jessi during the incident, which took place on the evening of September 29, 2024. In a widely circulated CCTV video, a male fan approached Jessi for a photograph while she was accompanied by friends, but she declined his request.

In his Instagram story, ØHENRY detailed how he had been invited to Courte Cafe in Gangnam, a location captured in the CCTV footage. He recounted being there with friends and encountering Jessi and her associates.

After the café closed, ØHENRY and the group decided to continue the night by sharing a meal elsewhere. While several fans approached Jessi for selfies, she graciously agreed to some requests. ØHENRY noted that he and Jessi were sober, while others in their party had consumed some alcohol prior to leaving the venue.

he emphasized that “she didn’t do anything wrong”and indicated that she wouldn’t have been able to prevent the alleged assault from occurring.

“We waited across from a 7-Eleven until one of our friends found our group,”ØHENRY mentioned.

ØHENRY attested that he personally witnessed the altercation, observing the moment a male fan approached Jessi for a photo, to which she declined. He revealed that the fan persistently continued to ask for a picture.

Unexpectedly, a man they had previously met that night intervened and struck the fan. Jessi attempted to stop the assailant but was unable to do so.

“I swear on everything I cherish; she did nothing wrong! I was there and saw everything unfold. How can she control a crazed grown man she doesn’t even know? People need to stop spreading this narrative that she’s a villain. It’s pure manipulation,”ØHENRY asserted in defense of Jessi.

Jessi Faces Significant Backlash Amidst Ongoing Allegations

The rapper known for “Zoom”has faced harsh criticism from Korean netizens for allegedly failing to intervene during the assault on the male fan. On October 16, 2024, she was summoned to the Gangnam Police Station where she endured a six-hour interrogation.

As reported by Korea JoongAng Daily, Jessi addressed the media outside the police station, expressing:

“I hope to identify the individual responsible for assaulting [my fan] swiftly and that they face consequences. I’m prepared to share everything I know. I am truly sorry.”

The Korea Herald stated that the Korean-American rapper expressed remorse for the distress caused to the victim and his family, stating:

“I sincerely apologize to the victim and their family for the pain I’ve caused. Since the moment of the incident, I’ve hurt many, including the victim, which has led to feelings of betrayal and anger due to my mistakes, attitude, and inaction.”

She added:

“If given the chance to relive that moment, I would have willingly taken a picture with that fan, actively defended him, reported to the police immediately, and issued an appropriate apology. Had I done so, the victim could have avoided so much suffering.”

Following the controversy, DOD Entertainment made the decision to terminate its contract with the NUNU NANA rapper on October 18, 2024. Jessi had signed with the agency just a month earlier, on September 20, 2024, and recently announced the launch of her own label, UNNI.
