“She actually killed her husband”- Former WWE personality recalls teaming up with a “murderous woman” (Exclusive)

Dutch Mantell, also known as Zeb Colter during his time in WWE, recently reminisced about his experience working with Evelyn Stevens when he was still an active wrestler.

For more than fifty years, the 74-year-old has been involved in the pro wrestling industry, taking on a variety of on and off-screen responsibilities. In the 70s and 80s, Dutch was an active wrestler, representing numerous promotions across the globe.

The ex-WWE manager stated that he has no recollection of the incident but was prompted to remember it by the host of his other podcast.

“So I was doing my other podcast and the guy brought it up. He said, ‘You tag teamed with this female against Rick Rude and somebody.’ I did not remember her at all. Even when I looked her picture up, I still didn’t even recognize her. I had two matches with her in the corner and don’t even remember. Then I heard later that three years later, she shot and killed her husband. So I am the only wrestler that has probably tag-teamed with a murderous woman. She actually killed her husband, but I have never heard of the girl. Nobody else has heard of her either.”[From 20:56 onwards]

During two different periods, Dutch Mantell served as a manager for WWE. Under the persona of Zeb Colter, he oversaw the careers of notable wrestlers like Jack Swagger and Cesaro.

In the meantime, Evelyn Stevens was charged with the murder of her husband Frank Riegle, who had been fatally shot three times in the head and chest. Stevens was subsequently found guilty and sentenced to twenty years in prison. However, after serving only five years, her sentence was later pardoned.
