SHADOW Introduces Neo: The Next-Generation Cloud Gaming Service

SHADOW Unveils New Cloud Gaming Tier: Neo

In an exciting development today, French cloud technology provider SHADOW has introduced its latest tier of cloud gaming functionality named ‘Neo‘.This new offering supersedes the former ‘Boost’ tier by boasting significantly enhanced performance capabilities, providing gamers with an impressive boost—up to 150% in gaming speed and an exceptional 200% increase in software performance.

For those currently subscribed to the Boost tier, SHADOW has automatically upgraded them to the Neo tier, which continues to be offered at a price of $37.99 per month, excluding taxes. The following are the impressive specifications associated with the Neo tier:

  • CPU: AMD EPYC – 8 vCores running at 3.25-3.8GHz
  • GPU: Comparable to NVIDIA RTX 4060 16GB (Utilizing server-grade NVIDIA RTX 2000 ADA 16GB)
  • RAM: 16GB DDR5
  • Network Speed: 1 Gb/s fiber connection
  • Operating System: Windows 10/11

CEO Insights

Olivier Abecassis, CEO of SHADOW, commented on this launch, stating, “Neo is our newest and most versatile cloud PC yet. Whether you’re gaming in 2K with RTX and DLSS, editing complex 3D models, or working remotely, Shadow Neo provides high-end PC capabilities instantly and from virtually anywhere.”

Evaluating the Power Tier

While the Neo tier impresses with its capabilities, it raises questions about the viability of the existing Power tier. Presently, the Power tier offers access to similar CPU specifications but is paired with an older GPU, the RTX 3070 Ti. The RTX 4060’s integration of DLSS Frame Generation further emphasizes the disparity. Given the nearly identical performance observed across various games, paying $50 for the Power tier seems unjustifiable. It may soon require an upgrade to remain competitive.

Comparative Pricing and Functionality

Some users might find SHADOW’s price point surprising when compared to NVIDIA’s GeForce NOW service, which provides access to an RTX 4080-class GPU for just $20 monthly. However, the key distinction lies in SHADOW’s offering; it delivers not just a GPU but an entire cloud PC. This functionality allows users to install a wide array of software, including game mods, which is typically restricted on platforms like GeForce NOW and other competitors such as Boosteroid.
