Microsoft has recently introduced a controversial requirement mandating users to log in to a Microsoft account during the installation of Windows 11. Despite these efforts, a new workaround has surfaced online, offering users an alternative method to bypass this requirement.
Streamlining Windows 11 Installation: New Bypass for Microsoft Account Requirement
The ongoing updates from Microsoft concerning Windows 11 and its security protocols have often frustrated users. Previously, we highlighted the removal of the popular script known as “bypassnro.cmd, ”which allowed for installation without the necessity of a Microsoft account. However, it appears that a savvy user, identified as @witherornot1337, has devised a clever alternative. This method requires a simple command execution in the Command Prompt (CMD) during installation, offering hope for those wishing to avoid an account setup.
Improved bypass for Windows 11 OOBE:

This bypass is specifically applicable to the Home and Pro editions of Windows 11. Users of other versions can utilize the “I don’t have internet”option instead. To implement this new method, follow these steps:
- During the initial setup of Windows 11, press Shift + F10 to open the Command Prompt.
- Type the command
start ms-cxh:localonly
and execute it.
The execution of this command will trigger another window, allowing users to create a local user account. This effectively bypasses the requirement of linking a Microsoft account, providing a more efficient installation experience for users eager to start their OS without unnecessary delays.
The command series ms-cxh
plays a crucial role in the Windows 11 Out-of-Box Experience (OOBE), and when paired with the “local only”command, it effectively disables the requirement for an internet connection and Microsoft account. This process is guided by a JSON configuration residing within the Cloud Experience Host (CXH) directories, which allows for the swift bypassing of the account setup—particularly beneficial for users who prefer a quick OS launch.
It remains to be seen whether Microsoft will address this method in upcoming insider updates, given their stance on the mandatory Microsoft account as a “security issue.”For the time being, however, this workaround continues to prove effective.
