Set within a government-funded institution designed to cultivate future leaders, the narrative follows main character Kiyotaka Ayanokoji. Despite his exceptional intellect, Ayanokoji finds himself placed in Class-D, which is often labeled as a collection of “inferior”students. His interactions with fellow students Suzune Horikita and Kikyo Kushida lead him down a tumultuous path, impacting his mental health significantly.

Classroom of the Elite has gained immense popularity, consistently ranking in Oricon’s top light novel charts for the past two years. The series’ success has facilitated the production of both anime and manga adaptations, along with spin-offs.

Changes in Anime Staff

The inaugural anime season premiered in 2017 under the production of studio Lerche, with Seiji Kishi and Hiroyuki Hashimoto at the helm. A significant gap followed before the release of the second season in 2022, which retained studio Lerche but underwent major staff changes. The highly anticipated third season launched in 2024, with plans for a fourth season currently in the works.

To date, the Classroom of the Elite anime series consists of a total of 38 episodes. English translations of the light novels are provided by Seven Seas Entertainment, while all three seasons of the anime can be streamed on Crunchyroll in both subbed and dubbed formats.
