NVIDIA Unveils RTX Hair Feature for Indiana Jones and the Great Circle at Gamescom 2025
During its highly anticipated announcements at Gamescom 2025, NVIDIA revealed that the innovative RTX Hair feature will officially launch in September, exclusively for Indiana Jones and the Great Circle.
This exciting development comes after a previous announcement made in February, where NVIDIA teased the arrival of RTX Hair in conjunction with the NVIDIA DLSS 4 Multi Frame Generation support. While DLSS 4 MFG successfully made its debut at that time, the RTX Hair feature needed further refinement, demonstrating NVIDIA and MachineGames’ commitment to delivering a top-notch gaming experience.
Understanding the Technology Behind RTX Hair
Utilizing a groundbreaking technology known as linear swept spheres, RTX Hair represents a significant advancement in how hair is portrayed in video games. This new hardware presented with the GeForce RTX 50 Series replaces traditional triangle models with spheres, which not only aligns more accurately with the natural shape of hair but also minimizes the geometric complexity involved in rendering each strand. According to NVIDIA, this results in improved lighting and shadow effects while maintaining a modest memory footprint.
It’s important to note that within Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, the linear swept spheres technology will be exclusive to Blackwell GPUs. Gamers using other graphics cards will continue with the existing hair rendering model, which may not achieve the same level of realism.
Performance Expectations and Additional Game Content
As of now, NVIDIA has not released specific performance metrics regarding how the RTX Hair feature will impact frame rates during gameplay in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. This leaves players eagerly awaiting additional information as they prepare for the update’s release in the coming weeks.
In addition to the RTX Hair feature, players can also anticipate the upcoming launch of a story-driven premium DLC titled The Order of Giants. Included in the Premium Edition of the game, this DLC can also be purchased separately through the Digital Premium Upgrade for €35, further enhancing the game’s offering.
