Microsoft has released the September 2022 Xbox Update with a changelog containing new customization features, an updated game library, improved storage management, noise reduction, and more.

Customizable Xbox Button Lighting

If you have a second generation Xbox Elite Series 2 Wireless Controller, the latest Xbox update brings you some PC gaming with custom Xbox button lighting. Now you can change the default white color to whatever you like. The LED inside the button supports up to 16 million options, so you have plenty of options to choose from.

To change the color of the Xbox button on your controller, launch the Xbox Accessories app on your console or computer. Unfortunately, this neat trick only works with the Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2, including Microsoft’s recently announced Core in White variant.

Updated library

With an updated and optimized library, it’s easier to browse games on Xbox. The new library is divided into tabs for games you own and subscription-based services like Xbox Game Pass, EA Play, or Games with Gold.

Better storage management

Now you can choose where to install games and apps separately to make better use of your storage space. With the latest update, Xbox consoles allow users to set the default drive for games optimized for Xbox Series X|S, backward compatible games, and a variety of apps.

Team Chat Noise Reduction

Last month, Microsoft introduced chat noise suppression on the Xbox Series X|S consoles. This feature is now available for games tethered to previous generation Xbox One consoles and for PC gamers using Windows 10 and 11. Noise suppression can help eliminate unwanted noise and interruptions such as gamepad clicks, breathing, fan noise from your hot PC and etc.
