Rapper Safaree Samuels made a surprising entrance at Nicki Minaj’s Miami concert during her Pink Friday 2 Tour on Sunday, October 6. Attendees noticed the former partner of the hip-hop artist dressed in a denim vest and coordinated pants, which prompted significant mockery from fans. A number of Nicki’s supporters expressed their discontent regarding his appearance and criticized him on social media. Following this, Safaree took to the platform to respond to the negative comments.
Numerous social media users and gossip outlets, including The Shade Room, circulated a video showing Safaree as he was flanked by bodyguards while enjoying Nicki Minaj’s performance. At one moment, it appeared that the security team was attempting to guide him away from the area, leading many viewers to believe he was being removed by the staff.
Additionally, during Safaree’s presence in the crowd, Nicki Minaj called her husband, Kenneth Petty, to join her on stage, which ignited various reactions. Several fans speculated that her actions were a reaction to Safaree being in attendance.
Many social media users expressed their astonishment at Safaree showing up at a Nicki Minaj concert, especially after their split in 2014 following a twelve-year relationship. A social media user remarked:
Others echoed similar sentiments of disbelief, asserting that his presence at the concert was inappropriate, leading to further trolling online.
Notably, Nicki Minaj didn’t reference Safaree during her performance, and there was no indication that the two met after the concert, as no evidence surfaced online.
Since the end of Nicki Minaj and Safaree’s relationship, she has been involved with Meek Mill. Importantly, it has been noted that Safaree gained financially from his connection with Minaj, revealing in a July 2018 pay statement that he earned $2,343 for his contributions to her debut album, Pink Friday.

Earlier this year, in the We In Miami podcast, Safaree shared insights about his challenges following his breakup with Minaj, describing it as a “dark time.”He explained:
“I had two of the biggest people in the world [Nicki Minaj and Meek Mill] against me. That made everybody against me. Nobody wanted to be next to me. Nobody wanted to work with me. It just made everything hard. That was a dark time for me.”
After his split from Minaj, Safaree entered into a relationship with actress and model Erica Mena. They wed in October 2019 but filed for divorce two years later, and share two children together.
